ATCO Structures & Logistics was selected by V.K. Mason to design, fabricate and construct the administration building, the warehouse/maintenance building, the turbine hall, the auxiliary boiler building and the HRSG building including the following components:
- A pre-engineered/structural steel hybrid
- Acoustic building envelope
- Two overhead cranes
- EPDM roof
- Man doors
- Overhead doors
- Windows
- Lightning protection system
- HVAC system: MUA units, gas lines and unit heaters, exhaust louvers complete with silencers
- HVAC controls: automated handling system including hardware and software
Technical Information: Major noise sources included:
- One GE 7FA gas turbine generator package
- One HRSG unit
- One combustion exhaust stack
- One steam turbine generator unit
- Two auxiliary boilers
- Two GSU transformers
- All building HVAC equipment
- Other ancillary equipment such as service pump
ASL guaranteed the power plant would meet noise requirements and it has been tested to the satisfaction of Kiewit Power Engineers.
Noise Target: Ontario Ministry of the Environment (MOE) criteria applied. The A-weighted noise limit was 40 dBA at 168 meters. As well, ASL guaranteed acoustic performance at the facility in all octave bands from 16 Hz – 8000 Hz. |
