Created in just six weeks, this project provided remote accommodations for 2,800 police and military personnel who provided security for world leaders attending the G8 Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada. Kananaskis is a vast expanse of wilderness that includes mountains, foothills and lakes, and is a popular recreation area. Respecting the natural environment while providing secure and reliable accommodation was of utmost importance.
This Modular Building Institute award-winning camp accommodations incorporated new as well as used equipment from across ATCO Structures & Logistics’ Canadian fleet. The over 300 unit facility included sleeping quarters, washrooms and dining facilities. A kitchen was also provided to prepare meals for all camp residents and on-site staff.
The project successfully passed a final audit which showed the camp had no adverse impact on the environmentally sensitive park area surrounding the site.
